Hey, I really like your art style but I have one request. Could you post more of the sketchy looking pictures like the RD and scootaloo picture? They are good references for people who are learning to draw like me while the fully colored pictures are harder to use as references, so if you start most of your pictures like this before adding color and what not would you mind posting them? If its not to much trouble.

sure thing! i don't particularly like posting unfinished things on here too often but i will make an exception! though beware, my sketches are very messy. also i suggest avoiding bighead syndrome and super inconsistent styles that i do haha. i hope these are helpful in some way!

oh man, sadly i don’t really take requests. the easiest ways to get art from me are commission (obviously), waiting for me to make a “gimme some requests” post here, OR try stalking places that i lurk for requests. i’m on /co/, plus4chan’s /pco/, and r/rule34 a decent amount. SO. if you see a drawfriend thread on any of those, make a request! or on reddit, make a request post on r/rule34. and who knows, maybe i’ll be the one to fill it!

thank you! getting good lines has taken a while since i definitely had to develop a process to get a line style i like.

as for method, i do a SUPER rough sketch, then a slightly less rough sketch on a layer over that. i don’t focus much on making lines pretty. then i use the eraser tool to sort of cut out the more defined line i want. for me, this is less stressful than trying to get nice lines on the first try when i’m laying the color down (i don’t know if that makes sense, most people are probably more comfortable with regular sketching).

i bounce between applications a lot, so it’s not dependent on any tool/program. it’s sometimes a long process finding what works for you (i know it has been for me!), but trying a bunch of new methods/brushes and just having fun with it helps shorten it usually! Also because you’re really good with pencils, i strongly suggest using brushes that are similar to real graphite. getting good digital lines tends to involve using what you’re already good at traditionally. for example, i like brush pens traditionally, and i usually do my best digital lines with similar brushes.

i do most of my sketches digitally. it’s very rare for me to start a sketch on paper and carry it over to finish digitally (because i’m lazy.)
